Institutional Water Footprint Report 2025

Water is a finite and strategically vital natural resource essential for life. Our world is grappling with a water crisis, driven by factors including population growth, industrialization, climate change, and other environmental issues. This crisis has been escalating, reaching critical levels across various regions.

In recent years, companies have launched new projects aimed at reducing water consumption and recycling water, based on national and international directives. Today, they still continue to allocate resources to ensure environmental sustainability.

Organizations should assess their influence on the water crisis and climate change, adhere to national and international climate change policies, and proactively manage their environmental impact by implementing necessary preventive measures against potential environmental risks. This approach has been widely adopted as an additional and universally recognized criterion that fosters strategic awareness and credibility among similar institutions.

In light of the aforementioned considerations and methodologies, and in alignment with its environmental philosophy under the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, Özyeğin University has revised and republished its Institutional Water Footprint Report. Compliant with the ISO 14046 Water Footprint Standard, the report serves as a testimony of the University's commitment to environmental sustainability, demonstrating its dedication to systematically assessing its institutional water footprint and optimizing the management of its water resources.
