We held the Design Forum for Social Development in Gökçeada

The “Gökçeada Design Forum for Social Development: Territorial Design in Action” took place on July 5 and 6. The two-day seminars focused on the impact of design on social development with experts from all around the world.

Our University’s Faculty of Architecture and Design and Istanbul Design Institute has been collectively organizing a series of events in Gökçeada since 2014 to further promote the social design approach. As in the previous years, we welcomed international scholars in Gökçeada on July 5 and 6.

Supported by Gökçeada District Governorship, Municipality, and Village Mukhtar’s Offices, the event brought together prominent speakers, including Prof. Terry Irwin, Head of the School of Design at Carneige Mellon University, and Prof. Mugendi K. M’rithaa, Senator, and Former President of the World Design Organization (WDO), while participants from the US, Italy, Pakistan, and South Africa had the chance to share their own experiences.
